BREATHING LIFE INTO OUR COMMUNITY
Since the school was designated as a Sports College back in 2005, an unyielding commitment to empower local community members to achieve their dreams and aspirations has been the focus of the school community sports programme.
From 5pm until 10pm every evening and weekend the school remains open to the general public. Over 1500 local community members use Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Sports College to participate in a varied programme of community club sports.

The success of the programme has been unprecedented - winning a national award in 2009 for its outstanding contribution to raising standards in the local community, through sport. Highlights include:
The development of a wide variety of sports club's housed on site to offer professional coaching to young people and adults including: Basketball, Football, Martial Arts, Dance, Exercise to Music, Netball, Cricket and Roller Skating. The community sports centre offers expert advice to all clubs interested in achieving club mark / charter standard awards, ensuring clubs hold the requisite qualifications to coach sport.
The sports centre houses clubs that offer a 'something for everyone' philosophy. Several clubs offer fun, uncompetitive activities for all abilities, while other clubs dedicate themselves to working with gifted and talented youngsters who wish to develop their skills to elite performance level.
Over 40 evening and weekend courses have taken place in 4 years - leading to 514 members of our community gaining a qualification in their own time. Courses included : Level 2 Gym Instructor Course, FA Football Coaching Level 1 & 2 Courses, Exercise to Music Courses, British Judo Coaching, England Badminton Coaching and England Netball Coaching Courses.
229 school students have taken an additional community sport qualification out of school hours and then being deployed into sports volunteering, community clubs or part- time employment.
